A paramilitary induction course for the newly appointed Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority board members was held from 25-29th of August at Bolton Atlantica, Harare. The course is one of the mandatory courses in the staff training and development policy.
The seven board members who included Board chairman, who himself underwenttraining before, participated for the second time but admitted that training was more intense. The board members are as follows:Mr. Alvin Ncube-Board Chairman,Retired Air Marshall Henry Muchena, Professor Gilbert Pwiti, Ms Nellie R.F.T Jinjika, Mr. Wilson Mutinhima, Mr. Tichafa E Mundangepfupfu and Mr. Tanyaradzwa Mundoga. The board members were taught on how a paramilitary organization operates.
All of the seven participants passed the course and no participant failed or dropped out of the course. Areas of assessment were on self restraint and ability to take orders correctly and promptly. Also, the ability to handle a firearm correctly and practice safety precautions and the general personal conduct and attitude to the training were assessed.
The course ended on the 28th of August at around 12 noon. The Acting Director Conservation Mr. G. Matipano was at the shooting range to witness the final exercises and thereafter closed the training. The event at the shooting range was covered by local media through the office of the Public Relations Manager, Ms. Caroline Washaya-Moyo.
